Hello..trying to buy Audigy 4 for my hubby to boost up the quality of his voicework, to supplement our income.
Has anyone used this?
Where ever I look, they are very vague about what is included. Of course we need the sound card with the inputs and the software.
If anyone can offer insight, I would appreciate it.

What do you mean by "included"? Do you mean what inputs and outputs the Audigy 4 has and the specifications for them, or do you mean what else is in the cardboard box besides the Audigy unit?

As an aside, I'm struggling a bit with the connection between boosting the "quality of his voicework" and supplementing your income!

Well, I am wondering what comes in the box...On the Soundblaster website, it lists this software as included with the Audigy unit:
Creative Software Suite:
Creative Media Source® Go!
Creative Media Source® Go! Launcher
Creative Media Source® Player
Creative Media Source® Organizer
Creative Media Source® DVD-Audio Player
Creative Entertainment Center
Audio Converter
EAX Console
Surround Mixer
SoundFont Bank Manager
WaveStudio®
Graphic Equalizer
DTS Neo:6 Settings
Smart Recorder
Audio Console
Diagnostics
Speaker Settings
Speaker Calibrator

When looking on ebay and such, it is difficult to know what is included with the unit. People just aren't into being specific. Just want to make sure I am buying what I want and getting what I am paying for.
Boosting the quality of the voicework will enhance it and therefore more people will want him to do their voicework=more money in the bank for us.
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks

The software is all on the CDs that should come with the Audigy unit.

You need to check that you get the card, external interface box, remote control, cables and CDs.

This site has a breakdown of what to expect:

I wouldn't pay more than about half list price for an Audigy 4 second-hand. There are better value sound cards on the market.

In order to advise further, can you describe how you want to use it? Do you have a vocal booth? What microphones are you using? Which sound editing software?

The Audigy is not a mixer in the pro sense of the word, and will not in itself enhance the quality of anything. You are wanting a professional solution (you will be making money by using it), so I wouldn't even think about a soundcard aimed at gamers and home theatre buffs.

You presumably already have a computer that has either a USB or FireWire interface. So you can go one of two ways:

(1) a small mixing desk that will plug into your USB or FireWire. With the right choice, you will be able to adjust the tone (by using the equalisation facilities on the desk), and maybe add some compression to the vocals. I'm not an expert in these small mixers, so maybe someone else can chip in here, but the sort of thing you could look at is the Alesis MultiMix 8 FireWire

(2) a good microphone pre-amplifier with FireWire or USB interface, coupled with computer software that would enable you to carry out whatever vocal enhancements you think are necessary. There are quite a few excellent offerings on the market, but you could start by looking at the Presonus Inspire 1394.

You didn't give the make and model of your microphone, so it's difficult to advise further in that area.

Boswell,
Thank you so much for taking the time to help us. That has been the most information we have gotten yet. My husband and I truly appreciate it.

Our dilemma is funds to spend on a lot of equipment. That is the reason someone suggested Audigy 4 so that we wouldn't need to go the extra equipment route.

We will keep plugging along. I may very well ask more questions of you. Thank you very much for your help and information.
