Hello again, folks,...
Well, I've finally gathered all of the recording gear I need for my first foray into this world of madness,( Mac G5 Quad, Fireface 800, Logic Pro, Neve,GML,and Focusrong ISA 428 pres,etc ).
I'm darn nearly broke after these last few months of financial damage, but I'd like to get a pair of decent active near-field monitors,( I've briefly had a look at the Mackie 824 / 624s, Events, Dynadio, etc ).
I've no way of listening to any monitors before I buy, so I'd really appreciate any advice you fine chaps can give me :D
Also, being new to all this business of recording, where would I take the stereo signal from to feed the monitors ?

I would go for a pair of Genelecs, but there is a bit of a gap i
I would go for a pair of Genelecs, but there is a bit of a gap in their range at aound £1K. You could try the 1029A at about £600, or the 8040A at a bit more. Get yourself down to a branch of Digital Village - they are usually quite happy to let you hear some.
You would drive the monitors from a couple of the D-A outputs on the Fireface 800. You would need a TRS jack to XLR(M) cable.

I've actually taken the plunge, and ordered a pair of Dynaudio BM5As from Thomann at £ 327 a piece ,.....
I did some research via the Sound On Sound site reviews, and they got a good write-up,..sorted.
I always liked the sound of Dynaudio's top end Hi Fi speakers , so hopefully their near-fields should be just as good,...
Thanks for the advice regarding the signal for the monitors... There are so many inputs / outputs, I wasn't sure what was what :?

I received the Dynaudio BM5As today,( Thomann are just superb ).
I just need to make-up a couple of male XLR-to-TRS cables, and I can
plug'um in,.... Marvellous !
