Which would be your preference for VOX work primarily and some acoustic guitar. Soundelux is FET and the rest are tube. Going into an Avalon 737sp, high tenor voice thats thin and needs some body/air/presence :-?

still looking eh?

The TT is a greatly underrated and underappreciated mic except by those who have used it. Not many better sounding mics for acoustic instruments. The vocals will be a taste thing.

You know what I think about Soundelux mics. The U195's only drawback (uh difference??) would be the lack of patterns.

I dont know the Mojave.

The AT mics are like can openers if you need to open.....uh...cans.

It is a crisp mic and since I have no idea about what tracks you've heard I cannot comment on that. It is a mic that shines particularly well with a robust full-sounding mic pre. Doesnt do well with thin pres. Theres nothing wrong with crisp and proper placement will tame sibilance.

Once again, mics at this level are all very clear and quality built. Your choice will depend entirely on what you hear in use. Work with a good dealer that has a good return policy and you cant fail.

Atlas is one of these.

I use the U195 on a LOT of stuff - never found it to be bright or sibilant in nature, though I only use it through Langevin, Summit or Millennia pres - none of which are anemic.

I have always found it to be an amazing mic on almost any source. As for use with the Avalon, it should be fine - it's not anemic either. I would tend to find some of the other mics that you listed to be more forward/bright than the U195.

It's one of those mics I could see myself tracking an entire album with - bass, guitars, vox, drums, kick...it simply sounds good on everything. You haven't lived until you've tracked string bass or cello through it.

Mic Choices

I recently purchased the T-Bone SCT 800 aka (SE 5500/Feilo 5500) and the T-Bone Sc 1100 aka (SE Z3300/Feilo Z3300/NTEC Z3300) I have two of each. They are in my opinion some of the best microphones in the world bar none at any price point. A couple of disgruntled engineers from Neumann who were fired after Sennheiser bought out Neumann went to China and helped develop these two very fine mics and a slew of others for FEILO China. They far surpass IMO the U87i and the SCT 800/SE 5500 is as good as the AKG C12.

Am selling my Rode mics as a result

I know this may be stretching it for you first time readers of this post. But check out these reviews:

There is a vocal sample of the T-Bone SCT 800 at the first site listed below...

As you can see, i was asking about certain mics

That doods voice sounds good though I must say

I have no financial interest what so ever in these mics. I am just very pleased with the cost-quality value!
