Hi, first time poster here. I am about to purchase an Apogeetrak2 for about 1150US. it comes with the 8channel DA out and ADAT and midi cards. from what i understand this is an amazing deal.

I am setting up my mini "studio" for the first time, and this is the first serious piece of gear i purchase (I originally worked out of a laptop with an echo indigo io).

So first, I was wondering if anyone had any advice to share about the trak2, or any comments about their experience with the unit (and yes i've already read previous posts about it).

secondly, i"ll be needing to purchase an audio interface -preferably firewire so i can move from my laptop to a desktop quickly - right now, the m-audio profire lightbridge looks really good, as it does everything i need and almost nothing i dont. can anyone else recommend anything in a similar budget?

i should mention that i just posted this exact thread over at gearslutz, i figured it would give me a broader range of opinions and suggestions. i hope thats not a problem

thanks

CDm

The trak2 is an amazing piece for the home studio...It is my clock,2 channel pre, ad converter, da converter and interface to Logic audio...For the price you're getting it at you need to go and buy it right now...The preamps will make a huge difference in the sound of your mixes...No more harshness because the pres and a/d make such a huge difference in the overall sound quality...Peace
