I'm looking for some clean, modern sounding, high quality drum samples for pop/urban type production.

Does anyone have any experience with ModernBeats.com? Any other big companies and alternatives you've found reliable in quality would be great as well.

Thanks.

I have some. But my company is not big. But it is incorporated, which is more than many of these can say. But that doesn't matter - the sounds matter.

Too many buts?

Tough to find the really hot sounds. There are good ones commercially available, but I think the best are in the personal libraries of established producers. I've seen guys sample sounds from the SSL at the end of a mix session to keep the processed kicks and snares (prior to mastering of course). There are sounds passed around certain clicks, but they're tough to obtain if you don't know someone. The thing about drum sounds in contemporary r&b and commercial hip hop is that they have such a bearing on the overall sound of the production.

At the end of the day, it's a matter of opinion and some great records are made with drums right out of the classic Roland libraries or other easily obtainable sources, but there are lots of great drum sounds out there that are hard to find. Good luck though, you never know who has them or where you can find them, they're out there somewhere.
