Hello, sorry for my english, i am swiss italian ;)
I produce hip hop beats with my akai mpc4000.
For recording, i used my mbox and Pro Tools, but the sound is different, is not so power, so warm like the sound that mpc offer.
I can use some plugins but with not great results.
Is better if i use a multitrack recorder like dps24, Korg d3200, . ?

Sorry for my english and thanks!

Are you talking about recording vocals? If so, what mic are you using? And I'm assuming your using the Mbox preamps. So maybe you might want some tube preamps for warmth.

but i must record in protools or a multitracker for the vocal track (rap!)
i can't record my rap with mpc....yes is possible ok but is very hard and not good....

So mix the beat down in the MPC into a WAV file, then transport it to the computer (doesn't it have USB or a removeable memory card or something?). Then import the WAV into protools and record along with it.

thanks but i prefer mix with protools or an multitrack device, because the mpc is best for the production, i can't make a good mix with only the mpc....
my question is : a multitrack hard disk recorder is better than a mbox and protools?? The sound is more power, more warm if is recorded by an multitrack recorder than protools??

Sorry for my english eh ehehehe :)

No. But I don't think you understand the whole mixing thing. I don't know how you are recording the MPC with protools. Are you running stereo outputs into protools? What I mean by mixdown is save the beat as a WAV file and either send through the computer with USB or burn it onto a cd with the MPC'd cd burner and then rip it on the computer. Then import the stereo beat into protools and record vocals over it.

Otherwise, I don't know what you really want to do. Do you want each sample on a seperate track in protools for final mixing?

I use mbox, a product of digidesign. With this device i take track for track the sound produced in the mpc in protools....you know?
But if i use this system the sound is too digitalized,....is cold.
I make hip hop, is important for my that the sound is warm, is power.
I think a multitrack device is better for this,.....or it's false my idea?

So you record each track seperate into protools? Like the snare on one track, and bass drum on another, etc.... if so, all I can suggest is that you run the MPC through a tube mic preamp just to warm up the sound, and then run into the line inputs on the Mbox. I'm pretty sure a multi-track recorder will not sound any better than what you have. They are both digital, so it wouldn't change the sound. You could record to tape, but I doubt you want to mess with that.

I don't know what else to tell you. Sorry.
