Hope I'm not gonna be known as the bloke who asks stupid questions
but here goes
I read that downloading ASIO (asio4all) would help with optimizing CPU power.I use FL studio 6
What should i set the ASIO at? When i played a few tracks the comp didnt handle it too well.Any advice?
Cheers

ASIO won't help your CPU. It is a driver for your sound card that "replaces" your existing driver. It is designed to improve something called latency.

When using computers for audio, Latency is the time delay between when you play a sound and hear it, after it's gone through the computer.

Ideally you want to use low sample rates for recording. As low as you can get without causing problems. For playback it doesn't make that much of a difference.

If you are recording, you can benefit from using ASIO drivers. If not, using them will not help your CPU at all and it's just a waste.

Don't you mean buffer size? I don't think you want to lower the sample rate at all. Decrease the buffer size to decrease latency. Maybe that was intended as missinfo. I kinda get the feeling we're talking about crack here.

Chelsea you are talking about an AC97 chip that is on your motherboard. I can't help but think your biggest problem is you have no soundcard to speak of other than your onboard chip. The mic input sucks and so does the line input,(If it even has one).
