can someone help? I have my sample rate set to 44.1 and my latency as high as it can go and I'm still clipping bad. Or maybe you could call it drop outs. The drop outs are in a rhythmic pattern. This kind of stuff isn't in the manual. I'm recording on a laptop. Do I not have my settings right or is this a problem with my computer?

You're adjusting the wrong software adjustment. You need to adjust the amount of buffers, not latency. You may also then need to adjust the latency after adjusting the buffers?

There is no right or wrong amount of buffers. They must be assessed by listening and adjusting, until your problems are conquered.

Like Reggie said, please post your setup, it will make things a lot easier.

Your description sounds a lot like a problem I was having some time ago with Cubase. I would get drop-outs just like the ones you describe. My problem was solved when I started using a separate disk to store my audio projects, so adding an external disk could solve your problem, like Reggie suggested.
