My friends dad recently got some equipment that he used at a studio he used to work at. He gave it to me because had no use for it.

He gave me:

`Digidesign 888 I/O Audio Interface
http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/msg/249865340.html

`Digidesign Expansion Chassis
http://www.digidesign.com/index.cfm?navid=48&key=/news/details.cfm&itemid=4129&localonly=N Its sort of like this one, but it has 12 slots in the back instead of the front.

He has 2 other things he has to give me that I havent picked up yet, but one seemed to be an interface for MIDI

I need help trying to get this stuff hooked up so I can do something useful with it!

It doesnt come with any cables so Im asking you guys for any help/advice of what I need to I can somehow record with this equipment..

Any help please? It would be GREATLY appreciated :)

Ill try and get pics of it soon or something..I want to use this stuff! :P

Ok well right now im to figure out how to get the 888 interface to work with my pc. Theres a connection available for it, it says "Computer 1/Computer 2"

It says it can hook up to a pc using "any of the following cards: PT Project, Disk I/O, Bridge I/O, or Session 8 PC I/O."

No luck finding any of those yet.
*My pc doesnt have any special interfaces or anything, but im willing to buy what it needs so I can hook up the interface to it

and..whats a core card?

Ill get more info as soon as I can find any..Ill try and post pics of it soon/eventually so you can see exaclty what it has..the chassis has about 4 slots taken up inside..

From the Mix systems a core card is the main FIRST card that has both DSP and interface connectivity
AND
is required to launch the PT4+ software
PT4 and PT5 and PT6 ... 6.9 was the latest ... on OSX ... I think
don't quote me there as memory is a little vague

the second and third etc had DSP and interface connectivity but will not run a system in there own right

The other cards you mentioned above are PT3 and PT16 vintage

I don't know why that Digi page didn't mention Mix and MixPlus ???
perhaps I am confusing 888 with 888/24

I don't think it is worth running any system before PT5 or 6

AM3, 001, Mix and Mixplus etc
