I recently purchased a Mxl 909 Condenser microphone and I'm gonna be running it through a Samson C-Valve Tube Preamp. But I am gonna be doing my recording in my room, I live in a second story apartment building in an area thats not too busy but not really quiet. at times I can clearly hear children outside playing, and music from adjacent apartments and car stereos outside. Additionally I have a pc thats not that quiet either, and I cant afford to buy a real isolation booth but I still want to keep all other outside sounds out of my recording or to a minimun, I heard I can put like comforters on walls or something, but is there any basics I should know to keep my room as quiet and isolated as I can, cheap ways.

When recording vocals, one trick is to cover yourself with a doona (or thick blanket etc)
It gets hot and is not the most creative space, but is a cheap way to isolate your vocals from unwanted noise.
For louder instruments you shouldnt need to worry too much (ie drums, electric guitar)
Mostly though you'd want to close mic things, as your room probably wont "sound" that great, which should also get rid of most unwanted noise.
