I would like to get started recording some acoustic music at a very minimal cost. I have noticed there seems to be some equipment (Tascam US-122 or Lexicon Omega) that maybe I could start with using my computer, but I'm not really sure what would be best or if I'm even headed in the right direction. Any help would be appreciated.

I would like the flexibility to record with a band maybe in one session with 3 or 4 channels and perhaps on other occasions be able to record a background track and then add individual tracks later. I would expect most of the recording would be done using mics but some might possibly be done with pickups on instruments.
