This question is actually something that is concerning my boyfriend, Chad. He's computer illiterate so I'm doing the asking for him

He owns a Tascam DP-01 FX/CD

He has no problem recording onto CD-R's, but when he tries to record onto a CD-RW, the recorder tells him to insert a blank disc.

The one thing he tried was formatting the disc. This didn't seem to help the matter, as the recorder still didn't recognize the disc.

Hopefully someone can help the poor guy out so that I don't have to hear him whine about wasting money on CD-RW's anymore haha

A lot of these companies that offer CD/DVD burners, also offer regular firmware updates, only available from their web sites. I believe this is because the different manufacturers recordable disks use different secret recipes for their formulas? Those small differences, may cause major compatibility problems, like you are currently experiencing.

Like the other posters indicated, you might want to try different brands until you find one that works successfully in your unit. I've had this problem with numerous hardware and computer-based CD/DVD recorders. It's quite maddening really!

I'm mad I tell you! Mad! Flip city!
