We're preparing to gear up our new studio to be able to record full bands. Trying to decide which will be the best fit. Will have both Logic and Pro Tools(003 Rack) on the same daw, so would like to be able to control them both. Currently have a Focusrite ISA 428 which we'll be adding additional channels of outboard pres.
Now I've experienced the control 24 w/Pro Tools and am familiar with it's built in pres. I guess I'm curious as to anyones experience with The Tascam joint, it sounds real promising. 64 channels, 24 pres and with the card 32I/O. If anyone has used or experience it can you comment on it's integration with daws and the sound /quality. Plus it's price point and the fact that it's a full blown mixer, routing, monitor section, etc. It's quality of pres I'm very interested in compared to the Control 24

Respect.

Well, from what I've heard (and I could be wrong, but it's rare), the Control 24 won't work with Logic. So, you may not have a choice between the two. Now, the Mackie Control Universal will tackle just about any software, but it's only a control surface no "16-channels of pristine Focusrite class-A's".

I guess my question is, if you have enough cheddar to buy a Po' Tools rig, why are you still considering Logic? It must be the sequencing end of it, huh?

Personally, Logic is my fave, I've used it for years, but I initially got into it because I couldn't afford a PT rig. Now I can't live without it.

Anyways, check out the Soundcraft 328XD. It's an all-digi board and you can configure it to control whatever you want. They don't make it anymore, but I love mine (even though it's my live board).

Okay, not a full blown Pro Tools rig, we don't have it like that yet. We're just looking at the Digi 003 rack system, and it's mainly to have on tap for some other producers who operate in my area and prefer Pro Tools when they buy time. Personally I'm sold on Logic and am not looking away, especially with the abundance of DSP systems(UAD-1, Duende, etc.) all the power and function in one.
I've read some reviews about the Tascam and was trying to see if I could get some in the trenches input, know what I mean. They say it's universal as a controller, how well is what I want to know. As well as the quality of the (24) mic pres, plus the onboard efects may come in handy too...

Respect
