ok so i just got a check for $300. i love microphones but want some opinions on these based on what i'd use them for .. (all for live use)

.
beta57a - if i got one of these, i'd use it as an all-around decent sdc.. probably vocals, but maybe an amp or part of a drum kit?

ATM250 - live kick drum, bass cab, or maybe even floor tom

Audix i5 - i already have one of these which actually works surprisingly well on vocals, although i originally bought it for amps. if i got another of these, i'd use one for vocals/amps, and probably have one dedicated to a floor tom if i needed more than 3 sennhesier 604e's. how would this work on a low floor tom?

beta52a - uh, duh... live kick, bass, floor tom 8)

mxl604 - to match the other one i have ... i'd use them as stereo overheads on a kit

sterling st33 / st31 - i'd get a pair of these for overheads. anyone use them for overheads?

ksm109 - drumset somewhere .. probably hi-hat

.
ok, so thats what i'm thinking. any experience with, or thoughts on, these mics?

The 57A is a dynamic, not an sdc. I use them a lot for live work, but rarely for vocals (except announcements/MCing) because they don't have the spacer ball that the 58A has. This is an advantage for snare and other close instrument work, but singers can get their mouths too close to the diaphragm.

Put the Beyer M88 on your list as well.

i have:

FOH -> srm450, yorkville es700p
MONs -> jrx 112m, peavey pm112
VOX -> om2, nd767a, sm58
INST -> sm57, audix i5
DRUM -> audix d6 and f90, e604, mxl604, c1000s
RACK -> 166xl, 266xl, tc m300, dbx 1231 eq

the power amp i have for the jrx112m's *should* be upgraded, but that's not nearly as fun as new mics or rack gear...
