I have the MOTU 8pre interface [obviously] and an AKG Perception 200 Condenser [its phantom powered].

1. The MOTU works with all of my dynamic, non phantom powered mics.
2. The AKG works going straight through my mixer and through a monitor.

and now the problem:

3. I don't get any sound when recording with the AKG through the MOTU.

Yes I did turn the phantom power switch ON on the MOTU. I can't figure out the problem. I hope nothing is broken. Any ideas?

I'd love to help you out, but the friggin' AKG site appears to be down.

The MOTU I'd assume, based on what you've posted, is not to blame, I've got a 24I/O and other than some strange IRQ conflicts with the video card, have never had a problem (of course, the 24I is not a pre, but...)

It might be the mic, does it work plugged into a mixer channel?

It has been suggested that you try all 8 of the pres ...i know you did its just that the phantom 48 volts is not chianed on MOTUs and your not getting that power from the computer as in some interfaces .. dont try any thing with the pads on... 20 on motu 20 on the mic? WAIT just a min....this is a test question isnt it like that one name this mic to win it?
