audiokid and I have been having a private discussion in regards to this topic.

We are curious as to which way RO members are leaning. Are you on PT with a Mac? PT with a PC? Nuendo / Cubase, Reason, Cakewalk, Cool Edit, etc or a stand alone system with an analog or digital console? Please share your thoughts with us so we can tailor the forum to be of the most help to all of you.. .

I'm using PT and Mac.I'm happy with my setup.Glad I picked up th 01V96 the pre's are much bettter than the digi one's.I used to have a command 8 but the 01V96 is nicer being able to bank on 16 fader instead of 8.Overall I love my setup.

-PT 7.0 LE
-Mac Dual 2.3 G5
-01V96v2 (Control surface & Pre's via Toslink)
-Waves Diamond Bundle

I have Cubase SX3 on PC with Yamaha 01v96 + i88x on mLAN.
For study also Digi mBox2 with PTLE on vanilla MacBook (C2D).

Not sure who's gonna win ;-) I'd like to try Cubase 4 too. It should be quite an improvement.

I will install PTLE on my PC too. The MacBook screen is too small to do a day's work on it. If I really get down with that thing I always connect an extra 17" LCD monitor.

CoolEdit Pro 2.1
Runs on WinXP. Old box, 2GHz Athlon 2600 XP, 768MB RAM, and a 10 quid soundcard from priceless computing.
But I don't use it for multi-channel recording. I just grab "sentimental" mono mixdowns from concerts the church band does.
Although I will be looking for a bit of recording gear at some point.

Ableton

I am using Ableton Live and I realize many may turn their nose up at this since this DAW is mostly focused on people who cut dance music and DJs and such. Well I'll tell you, if you haven't tried using it like a DAW (I mean like nuendo ect.) then I believe it's not being used to it's full potential.
But this is all my opinion, I just like the way it works and how the workflow is set up.
I used Nuendo before that (I tried it at on a friends system first) and though I am still learning Nuendo and would love to use it, I just like Live.
And it get's just as good results.
Well anyway, that's my 2 cents.
:D
