You shouldn't double-post the same question, even if in different categories.

You mentioned vaguely in another post what your needs are, but why you don't you tell us more about what you intend to do with your equipment: are your recording endeavors for personal enrichment only? Do you do jingles for local companies? I ask because you can get an interface with 2 mic preamps for $100 bucks, but it probably won't be the quality you need for commercial use. On the other hand, spending $2,500 on a dual-channel preamp and another grand on an interface might be overkill if you only want to hear how guitar solos sound on top of existing music.

As for software, unless you intend to spend $400 or more, I highly recommend Cockos' [[url=http://[/URL]="http://reaper.fm/"]Reaper[/]="http://reaper.fm/"]Reaper[/]. Given that it's free, it's much more powerful than anything in its price range, with the drawback being that I'd imagine it can be very intimidating to a beginner.

sorry about that....

i do hip hop music, all we record on is a 15 dollar mic from walmart and some free software off the net lol. so we have decided that its time to start using some better equiptment.

all we do is record over instruments. we dont need thousands of dollars worth of equiptment, all we want is somthing that will let our lyrics be clearly heard over nice hiphop beats.

if this helps any of you please give me and sugestions on what mics would be good for us.
