Hey, I have been doing a quite a bit of research on a home studio vocal setup. My voice is medium-deep in tone and pretty aggressive, kind of a mix between dre and tech n9ne --anyways, kind of unusual. I am currently using a setup over at my buddies. Blue Baby bottle condenser mic going through a Focusrite Platinum pre and mixed in Nuendo.
We have been able to get some really good sounding results but I noticed that my current combo didn't always flatter my voice.

After reading multiple forums and reviews I placed an order for a new setup. I had to go with the Shure SM7B and the True Systems P-solo. From what I read, it sounds like it fits my style. I also grabbed a RME Hammerfall 9632 to interface it with my computer where I will be mixing in nuendo. I should be receiving my setup within the next couple of days, so I will let you know what I think. Until then take a jump over and listen to the track "fall in" -- I am on the first verse and it should give you a good idea on what my voice sounds like. did I make a good decision. http://www.myspace.com/shutdownproductions

Also, I live out in the middle of nowhere so I don't really have a chance to try any gear out in person --- just goin off online reviews Thanks

Those particular pieces will fit togther well. The mic may seem a bit dull to you at first, but after some experience with 'working' it, you will begin to understand its understated accuracy and its tonal sweep. Its not a bright in-yer-face kinda mic but it is a great one. The P-Solo is a fine neutral and accurate pre with a crap-load of gain....which you WILL need for the SM7b.

Will this work on your voice? Only time will tell.

Yea the sm7b eats up your gain. But god damn do I love that mic.
My fave mic to use on clean electric guitars. Plus it sounds great with most male singers.
I have picked that mic over an U87 more then once when auditioning them with male vocalists.
I came close to buying the very same pre, so please tell us how she is. I have heard nothing but great things about it
