I will admit beforehand than I am a beginner in recording and recording equipment just in case this is a dumb question.

I need to record with four microphones but the recording device I use only has two microphone inputs... What do I use to solve this problem?

Thanks

I have a M I X E R but it only has two microphone inputs. I probably won't have enough money to get a better mixer with more inputs for a while, so I need another solution...

Is there such a thing as a pre-amp with two microphone inputs that go to only one output that I can plug into my M I X E R? Or is that impossible?

Yeah, what Mckey said...

Save your money until you can afford to step up to the 4 - 8 channel FW Preamp boxes.

Suggestions on the cheap (cheap = around 500 bucks):
Presonus Fire line of ADCs (FireStudio, FP10)
MOTU 8Pre

Don't skimp, save and get something worthwhile.

In the meantime, work with what you got.

Some questions for you:
What kinda mixer do you have?
What are you recording?
What do you plan on recording in the future?
How have you been recording up to this point?

1) I use a Boss BR-1180cd :| (it was a gift   ) but I plan to upgrade as soon as I can.
2) I'm recording acoustic guitars and vocals (2 guitars, 2 vocalists) but sometimes electric guitar, keyboard, drums and bass as well
3) I plan to keep recording the same, as far as I can see
4) I have two microphones already

Thanks again for your replies.
