I've been experimenting with recording for a while now. I connect my keyboard to my interface with an instrument cable and it sounds fine. However, it only sounds good with that keyboard, I tried recording with my Micro Korg Synth/Vocoder and it sounds slightly fuzzy and a bit distorted. I don't know what I'm doing wrong, but it might be the input(output?) I'm recording it through. My synth has the following inputs:
headphones
output: R, L/Mono
Audio In 1: Dynamic
Audio In 2: Line
Midi: Through, Out, and In
Anyone have an idea of what the problem could be? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: The buzz isn't THAT bad, but anyone who has heard the synth before will notice. I have an M-Audio 410 interface if that helps at all.

I believe I was using the mono output, but I'll try all the others. I already tried the headphone output since that's the I use for my regular keyboard, but it still sounds fuzzy (on the synth at least, not the keyboard). I've even considered recording with a mic, but it sounds crappier, I'd rather have the distortion.

Another thing you can do is create a brand new patch. Make it just a simple sine wave, no wacky filters or anything. That should be relatively clean. See if that sounds the same.
Just because it's a new synth doesn't necessarily mean that it won't sound crappy. It might the the "sound" of that one. I've only played those in the local guitar shacks through the crappy speakers there so I couldn't tell you for sure if that's just the sound of it.

I barely bought the synth so I don't even know how to make patches, but I talked to a guy who's been playing it for 10 years and he's gonna teach me.

Isn't that sound all the rage these days??? :lol:
It's odd that on synth doesn't sound like that and the other does. That would indicate an issue with the synth itself rather that something on your system.
Are you using the mono output or stereo? If Mono, try the other output. If stereo, try mono. If it's all got the distortion do you have any other way of monitoring the synth, for example through a mixer right to speakers rather than through the interface and computers? It may just be an issue with those outputs.
I'm guessing that you don't hear that distortion through the headphone jack. If not, try hooking that into the audio interface and see if you have the same distortion problem.
