So my band "The Injured List" just got signed and my recordings will soon be going off to Spectre Mastering studios in Washington, they have a very professional space and their discography is rock solid!

I'm just scared to death that my recordings in the end will sound like sh**!

YIKES!

Hey!!! Congratulations man!

A couple things to consider-

In your deal, who decides the final outcome of the product?

Do you have input into the desired sound from the mastering phase?

In any case, express your concerns to whomever will be handling this. They may listen, they may laugh at you and tell you that they own you and to piss off. At least you did your best...

Seriously though - congrats!

Are you locked into what they do on the mastering, or do you have the option to refuse/redo the work if you're not happy?

Hopefully, you'll have saved the original copies of everything - pre-mastered, of course - in case you need to go back and start all over with someone else.

Hopefully, they'll do a great job, and that won't happen of course. ;-)

I'm not too worried I'm just worried about the quality of my recordings pre-master. I own the masters. Our contract basically says we have to pay back the label over time, while they cover the costs.

I'm having him take two fifteen second samples to hear the guys work so I get an idea of what he can do for us. So i'm excited but nervous as I've never sent my stuff out, it's always been me doing it.
