haha yeah its going to be used for vocals, only one mic at a time by the looks of things, but still have the option of two, and they will be a guitar plug in some of the time and in the future maybe some keyboard or synth..
does anyone know what the mic preamps are like on it, from the reviews they seem to be pretty good!?

thanks codemonkey

"from the reviews they seem to be pretty good!?"

Just remember, it's relative. People reviewing that unit are likely to be reviewing other units in that price range, so they might not be all that hot by higher standards.
But, they will almost certainly beat any cheap mixer preamps. And anyway, the relative reviewing can be good because people are more likely to be positive than pick out a tiny, irrelevant detail.

Heya Hacks, nice to see you residing on a forum other than CB !

Good recommendation. Also, I know 3 people with Omegas, 2 of them absolutely hated it, quoting poor drivers/latency and many problems setting them up. They (unless they changed this recently) also had no support for Vista - 1 guy never liked his Omega much but it did barely work under XP but when he upgraded (this is probably a pun right, downgraded is more like it) to Vista that was it, finito. He then bought an Alesis IO26 FW which he is liking much more.

Also, mix in the box. Better to get a good audio interface with good pres than a poor one with a few arbitrary knobs for tweaking.
