I know this question has been asked been asked before but I"m going to be very specific and not take up too much of your time.

I am deciding between Cubase AI/4 and Logic Studio.

I will be predominantly recording acoustic instruments, vocals, electric guitars and live kit. There will be very little if any digital instruments.

I have a MBP, and I'm trying to decide between a Yamaha N12 and an RME Fireface 800 + RME Quadmic (this will give me 8 preamps).

Does it matter which app I get? Or is Cubase better for audio editing.

Thanks for your time,

Brian.

Yeah, I know it's mac only, thanks though. I have a Macbook Pro.

I forgot to mention I will be recording most of the instruments myself. My goal is to create professional recordings of my own music to pitch to artists and publishing companies.

I'm just wondering, as I'm going to be recording mainly live instruments does one app have better audio editing facilities than the other?

Plus the Yamaha N12 has excellent integration with Cubase but this is not a deciding factor.

Imo, having used Logic in the past, Cubase has better audio editing, and audio/mixing workflow in general. Logic is a great midi app, and has improved a bit in other areas, but still lags Cubase/Nuendo for audio handling. Sound quality should be the same for an equivalent recording and mix.

Thanks dterry. That's what I have read. Admittedly I don't have any experience in either app but midi is not a major concern for me. Some basic stuff maybe for strings but only to underlay on live strings.

I was looking at the Yamaha N12 which is supposed to have excellent preamps, comp, eq, and reverb. And this is integrated with Cubase. I have some very nice mics so my goal will be to get good sounds before I start editing in the box.

I have seen in some posts that Cubase used to be a little unstable on the Mac but my friend says Logic isn't exactly perfect either.
