I'm starting my own recording studio but right now I don't have a lot of money. I heard I should not buy a mixer unless it it a really good mixer becuase otherwise it will degrade the sound quality. Is this true? Should I just buy an audio interface? What mixers would you recomend? thanks...

You dont need a mixer if your setting up a DAW. But keep in mind just because there is no mixer that doesent mean that it will be good. Everything you put the signal through efects the overall sound(Mic, Preamp, Interface, Cables, Computer,ect.....) If you want a good studio there is no subistute for good gear and alot of know how.
