Needs to be used when recording with an external beyerdynamic m50 mic off my canon xm2 using the adv accessory shue.

I need a professsional XLR m-XLR f AMAZING lead about 3m long ...have recenlty bought some cheap ones and subsequently had a bad stuttering recording such a bad connection I lost 3 clients due to bad sound.

Better still I need a xlr--XLR y splitter lead too as a really good make..prepared to pay top dollar for both.

A bad XLR cable won't cause "stuttering" in your recording, unless it's just a flaky connection. If that's the case, a decent quality cable with Neutrik connectors and a can of DeOxit contact cleaner made by CAIG.

If you want to throw extra money at a cable with pretty colored plastic or special "Patented" unobtanium alloys, that's fine - but it will just make you wallet lighter.

I don't know what this "Accessory Shoe" is like, but it sounds like it might be like a flash attachment with some additional contact points for an audio signal. Something like that would also seem like a likely candidate for a dirty connection.

What is the XLR Y for? Maybe there is a better solution that a splitter?

Can you post an example of the "stuttering" that you have in your recording? Maybe it is the sample clock?

I agree with zemlin, top-dollar cables are just going to make your wallet lighter. Especially with such a short cable run. Any cable you buy at the local music store should be good enough for what you are doing as long as you don't abuse it.

ok..

I definately think, from (rusty albeit) experience the stuttering was a bad connection as it was so tempermentak..

So I'm goign to go with the Neutrik's.. I guess then it doesnt matter where I get them?
Does the quality of cable make a difference? Ive heard of venom and van damme?

I wouldn't need the Y Splitter if I could guarantee good sound from an xlr-to a 3.5 mm socket.
The M50 micorphone I use for news interviews has an XLR connection and I need the shue for the camera(which has a L & R xlr imput) to convert this...

Do you know that the sound would be just as good straight into the camera from an xlr-3.5mm jack lead..if os coudl you post one with neutrik and decent cable....? Much appreciated advice from all.

More information on makes and models will help here. I can't find any information on the Beyerdynamic m 50. Is that the whole model number?

Also I am still unclear on what the Y is for. What are the two items that you are Y-ing between?

3.5mm and pro-audio don't meet very often. You need a 3.5mm on your camera, but I would not expect the A to D on the camera, and especially the preamp to be worth much. If you want quality audio, you may be better off using the camera audio as a scratch track to align what you record with your DAW.

ok this is what i have right now

1.canon xm2
2.(the shue)Canon MA300 dual channel XLR microphone adaptor for XM2 camcorders
3.xlr-xlr cable, y splitter cable (6inch) twin male xlr-xlr female
(this plugs into shue and into the xlr-xlr cable, which then plugs into microphone)
4.Beyer M58 Microphone

When I was looking at what you are trying to do, I assumed you were doing studio vocal recording with the camera for music video use, or documentation of processes. Now that I see the microphone you have chosen, that is probably way off.
