I've owned a MindPrint Envoice (tube preamp) for almost a year n
I've owned a MindPrint Envoice (tube preamp) for almost a year now.
I really like it.... alot.
It's an extremely versatile unit, especially if you also get the S/PDIF Di-Mod option.
The Envoice can go from transparent to warm with the turn of a dial. The parametric EQ is very accurate and the compressor is on par with more expensive units. :)
BTW, I did a comparison of over 15 different preamps in the $250 to $800 range. Including the PreSonus VXP, Focusrite Voicemaster Platinum, the Joe Meek VC1Q, and a bunch of others. The Envoice beat them all.... in my opinion.
But, that's just MY opinion.
Your milage may vary, etc. etc.
(Translation: Never buy a preamp based on someone's opinion. Test as many as you can for yourself before you decide.)

Interesting! I am actually in the process of putting a lil' project studio together. I was going to get a Mackie 1604VLZ into PTLE, but I was wanting to get at least, I don't know, a dual channel that sounds decent enough. I was thinking of getting a dual Neve or a couple of APIs, but I really don't have the cash for that right now. My main problem is that I canNOT test preamps. I live in a seemingly God-forsaken country called Paraguay (at least as far as audio gear is concerned), and preamps are just not being sold here. So I kind of gotta go by what people
I have heard a lot about the Presonus MP20? Have you heard or compared it to these German pres? How much does the Envoice cost? And living in the US, how do you get it?

I am trying to get as much info as I can before I buy any of these preamps. So far I have only heard good things!! Anyone wants to prove me wrong.

En-Voice is about $600-700. There are distributors in the US you can buy them from. Or at least get a list of stores that sell them. Good luck.

Sound Performance Labs (SPL) make one of the most unique and usable boxes I've ever used. The Transient Designer. I highly recommend going to their site and reading some reviews. Amazing box. I have not tried the pre's.
