I have a Tascam US-122L audio interface that I have just recently purchased in the last month or so. I am using Pro Edits 2.0 to record vocals with. I am having trouble being able to center the vocals and get a clear sound at the same time because the Tascam only has mic inputs going to the left or the right. It sounds every professional when I record to the left or the right but when I center the vocals, its sound airy and fuzzy. If anybody can help me with the problem of achieving a clear sound for the centered vocals, please let me know ASAP. I would greatly appericate that.

That's right, you can't do that properly without the problems you're describing. I can assure you it is a problem of operator error with software. And somewhere in your software (since I'm not intimately familiar with that particular one) there should be the ability to choose you're recording sample (44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz, 192kHz) rate, bit (8-bit, 16 bit, 24-bit, 32-bit float, 32-bit, 64-bit, 128 bit) depth and whether you want to record a stereo track or a single mono track (mono as in monaural, singular, one, only) and if a single mono track, do you want to record from the left input (your other left) or right input (your other right). And you probably have some kind of help file that will direct you to those settings.

We all do this. Otherwise we'd have real jobs.

That way, you can record a single mono channel from your left input. That single mono channel then, in mix down, can be positioned anywhere from left to center, to right. It's not a balance control. It's a panoramic potentiometer or, PAN POT or just PAN. It's a BALANCE control when dealing with a stereo track. And if your signal is in the left Channel and you keep turning the PAN all the way to the right, you'll get the fizzies! I really loved those as a kid. But not as a recording engineer.

It tickles my nose when my audio sounds like that.
