has anyone checked out the new RODE K2? If so, how does it compare with other mics in the $700 range, Neumann tlm 103, Studio projects T3, Blue dragon Fly, Akg 414, etc/ thanks :D

The K2 doesn't have the funny buttons. The NT2000 does.
I own a variety of Rode mics and they are all pretty good mics, especially for the money. My personal favorite is the NTV, at least on male vocals. The NTK is a pretty good mic as well but not as full and warm as the NTV. I use it a lot for background vocals that I don't want to have a lot of low frequencies anyway.

If you are in the $700 price range you must consider the Shure KSM44. The one I have is better than all my Neumann's (including the U87 and TLM103). The list price is something like $1200 but street price is $699.

It is multipattern, quieter than any other mic I have and comes with a super cool shock mount and heavy duty case. ;)

I have the Rode NT2 and like it a lot. Then I got the TLM. ROCKS! Can't find anything that this mic can't do well. I've used the Shure and its really sweet too. If you need patterns, out of these three I'd get the shure. If card. only is fine then the TLM. The TLM is damn quiet, i'd be very impressed if the shure is actually quieter. I also have an older 414 and honestly, the TLM keeps the 414 in the mic cabinet almost all the time. Havn't tried the NTK, or newer rode tube mics. I've been eyeing the NTK for a while but I'll have to check out the newer stuff too. Good luck, use your ears not ours.
