I'm going to buy one of thse units after much reading about it.
i have one question though, i have a blue reactor mic going into a Focusrite ISA one...i will be plugging that into the ART pro vla ii then to my sound card, my question is. the tube thats in the pro vla, will that give my voice the "tube sound"? is it in effect like having a ISA one AND tubes?

No. If you are really using a "soundcard", it's like pissing on a turd. Buy a REAL interface and stop playing "Mr. Potato Head Record Producer" with those plastic toys. Soundcards have no headroom. That's not where your groupies sleep, it's the dynamic range of the signal chain you want to play doctor with. Soundcards are for games. Buy a REAL interface that can handle the dynamics of REAL music. Do your homework and stop reading teen magazines with shiny pix of plastic microphone-looking toys and boxes with meters that double as nightlights. That VLAII (the II represents the newer model that they make in China instead of Rochester, NY) will overdrive the whimpy inputs on the soundcard and make everything that you worked so hard to sound right sound like mush. Like singing into your armpit...

Wow, you must have allot of haters LOL....definitely need to work on your people skills that's for sure!

#1 my "sound card" is in fact a Emu 1212M ( the M meaning MASTERING GRADE A/D CONVERTERS...the same ones as on Protools HD)

#2 i don't buy " plastic toys" or whatever the hell you were spouting about i use a U87, Blue Reactor mic, and a Focusrite ISA one for my vox so you can just talk to the hand on that one....

#3 I once bought a avid mbox 3 and i couldn't hear ANY sound quality difference between it and the Emu 1212m so i returned it....

So i think perhaps you should get to know someone a little better before you start calling them "Mr Potato head producers" because im FAR from that LMAO!
It will save you allot of embarrassment like how you just embarrassed yourself right here in front of everyone by acting like a giant douche........( quick hurry!! go look for grammar errors now to point out cause that's all you know how to do) LMAO....

please tell me that this guy is this forums only troll.........lol

Oh yeah almost forgot.......Did a vocal using the Art Pro VLA II last night right after i got it home from GC, and it made the vocal sound AMAZING in the "wimpy soundcard" as you call it.....made it sound very fat and warm, clean and clear with a beautiful grain to it.....best 250 i ever spent!....guess you were wrong about that as well..LOL....do you even study before you speak?....lol

Juging by your second post, you seem to know everything about audio not to mention that you can determine the value of a $250 compressor all in one take last night.
Given that, why would you ask a silly question like "will this give my voice the tube sound".
Ya kinda walked into that response yourself.

anonymous Sat, 09/24/2011 - 13:49

Never claimed to know everything, and if i make a recording and it makes my voice sound amazing then it makes my voice sound amazing..,...what am i supposed to think of it after it makes my voice sound amazing....." no it doesn't"??? LOL i don't need any further convincing after hearing factual results.......and im only using it for vocals and nothing else......something works great for you you kinda praise it..that's normal... that gives this douchebag no reason to come at me like as if i know nothing.....so i didn't "walk into" anything,.....i asked if it gave a tube sound because i know it isn't designed to be a primary amp, and was just curious to whether or not it added a certain flavor...do people get chastised for every question they ask on this forum that requires thought?

Sorry, IM not the kind of person that gets talked to like that troll talked to me and just remains silent and just take it....never have..never will. Trolls
like him have no business on ANY forum......how he SHOULD have answered me would be something along the lines of " no it doesn't add any warmth " or "yes i find that it adds a nice sheen to the vocal"...not " stop being a a potato head producer who buys shiny things from a teen magazine" etc etc BULLSHIT......anyone with a IQ over 1 knows HE was in the wrong for reacting that way..... these forums are supposed to be informative and friendly, not a haven for insecure, compensating obnoxious elitists like him.....

"Ya kinda walked into that response yourself. " <--------- NO, THAT kind of response should not exsist on this forum! this is not the "Elitist Recording Forum Where Everyone Knows Everything So Dont Dare Ask A Question That Is Less Than Elitist Or Face Ridicule" forum....its the recording.org forum where people SHOULD be able to ask any question without the fear of getting acid thrown on them in reponse to thier question....

Gentlemen..let us not quibble. Let's start again.

Moonbaby, your reply was heavy-handed, even though correct.

Davey...only 7 posts? You don't have the cred here on this forum to argue, regardless of what you've accomplished in the real world. IOW, nobody really knows you here.

So let's restart this thread. Play nice, everyone. Humility is something sorely lacking throughout most of the entertainment industry. Let us be the exceptions.

Sorry I offended some folks' sensibilities here. I do that once in a while, it's good for my constitution and keeps me regular.
FWIW, I am no troll, having been doing the "music scene " thing since the early 1970's, before I had a car. I have helped a lot of people here, made some friends, some enemies along the way. Such is life.

I won't dig any more into this, life is too short. Have a nice evening !

Just in case the OP is still lurking around, anyone who calls an interface a soundcard is asking for a reaction. It shows that you really dont know what you're talking about and your reaction to the critique is deplorable. Plus your threat to this site is childish.

BTW, I'm glad that you're getting great results with your purchase. I happen to like all those pieces of equipment that you've somehow stumbled upon and use them all daily.

As for our "loss" at your leaving.......I'm not really certain thats the case.
