This is cool.

ill be purchasing it on studica when my computer build is done. Most likely at least, depending on if I jump on sequoia.

Studica offers it at $300 usd for students and teachers, which is the same as the upgrade price for current pro x owners.

i already have codec preview but the integrated melodyne is worth the cost of upgrade if you ask me.

I'm gonna play around w pro x some then decided if I'm going to just upgrade where I am, go sequoia, or upgrade and grab prox3 so I can run it on up to 6 computers. Either way I don't want to get too far behind just because I would imagine the pro x 4 upgrade will cost more relatively speaking.

I think I remember they incorperate some ozone features too. Perhaps the metering?

Not trying to sell this software to anyone but because I use it, I just received this in my inbox today, so I thought it might interests others.

Interesting, some of the Euro music out today is sure not my thing but what I find more interesting, how refreshing it is to see a women mastering. I think I have only heard of one other in my 40 years at this. (something about how men and women are more prone to some freq's and how the industry has become prodominatley male hearing when it comes to mixing)???

At the bottom of this post there is a link to upgrade Pro X 3 for a substantial discount.

In our latest interview we talk to mastering engineer Heba Kadry about working with artists such as Neon Indian. Based in "Timeless Mastering" studio in New York, Kadry has used Sequoia for mastering albums for a whole range of artists. In our full-length interview she gives us an insight into her workflow, describes her influences in terms of music production and explains why the object editor in Sequoia is one of her favorite tools to work with.

At the Ask.Audio magazine, they’re also fans of Sequoia – here’s what they have to say about the DAW in their latest article:

"After my time with Sequoia 13, there was no question this tool was worth every penny it costs."

The new Samplitude Pro X3 Suite, too, is worth every penny. In addition to Melodyne essential, it includes the ARA interface, tempo automations for audio recordings and the full version of Sound Forge Pro 11.

I'm told but have no idea because all I have ever used is Sequoia right from the very beginning.

If you don't need the broadcast/ video aspects, stay with Sam Pro x 3. But, you should look at it all carefully. Many ME, acoustic classical engineers use Sequoia. I have no idea how to advise you. I like the USB codemeter that comes with Sequoia. I just carry mine around with me. Pop it into any DAW with Sequoia and I am rolling.

4 point editing is on Sequoia but I don't know if I would miss that in Samplitude.

2 quick questions.

What's 4 point editing?

The USB stick, does that mean you can only use sequoia on one computer at a time w one license? Ie so would I need two full purchased licenses to have sequoia on the mix and capture daws?

I've spent a lot of time researching sequoia it's defiantely something I could use I like the networking options it has, and Sam 'only' does 5.1, not 7.1 where I want to be.

So it's more a matter of when not if. I'm just sussing out if pro X1 is enough to get be by in the meantime or the thenuograde is worth it.

I'm not gonna rush since I can get the education version from studica for 289, full version.

Gonna check out the forum over there, and email the rep to see what I'm looking for at an upgrade from Sam to sequoia, that should settle things.

Also lol, I love how amazingly 80's those tracks are on heba's interveiw were. I've been into that type of thing the past few months. Lovin it!

correct. I have 2 sticks. You could use Sam and Sequoia, You don't necessarily need both.

kmetal Tue, 11/08/2016 - 20:48

Looks like I'm gonna have to use 1 sequoia only I can't justify two.

I do love the idea that the mix and capture daws are identical. Less variables. But it's just something I'll have to get used to if I snag sequoia.

Thanks for the vid I'll check it tomm, it's been a long day.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

That's probably the only b i t c h I have about Magix, is that you need separate licenses for each computer.

I think they should allow each user 2 licenses; or, at least, a seriously reduced rate for the second license... there are still people who work at studios away from their homes, or who travel with laptops that they use for production work while away from their studios, and who want to be able to work at any location; and having two licenses would allow you to work regardless of where you were at any given time.

It would also make it much easier for those who use the 2-DAW workflow.

I mean, to be fair, I do get their point; their hesitancy to allow multiple licenses, because of those people who might re-sell one of the licenses to someone else at a reduced price... still, I'm not convinced that Samp/Sequoia are popular on the list of pirated audio software. I don't know anyone who uses Samp or Sequoia who isn't a professional, and who doesn't have the ethics that true professionals have.

Besides, I would think that if someone really wanted to crack a copy of Samp or Sequoia, there are probably torrent sites that already make that possible.

IMHO of course.

kmetal Thu, 11/10/2016 - 13:57

I agree Donny. There really should be a more fair way to license the software for both the client and software company.

UVI softsynths, and VSL, both allow 3 'seats' for there software, which requires an ilok/Vienna key dongle.

It's definately not out of the question to have a studio computer (or two or more), a laptop for wherever, and another one at home. I think it's good that some companies are allowing for this. Izotope has no restrictions as long as you own the machines you can install as many as you want.

Magix allows 3 seats for Samplitude. So you can have it on three computers at once. You have to deactivate one of the licenses if you want to put it on another. Like if you get a new computer or work at a different studio for a project. That's more than fair.

Sequoia is the same as avid as far as the single license. I did contact magix about a discount for sequoia for Samplitude users. They offer it for 2k instead of 3k which is still by no means cheap, but better than paying full price.

I wonder if sequoia offers any discounts for sequoia owners. IMHO they should at least do the same as Samplitude or ideally a deeper discount.

I just took the upgrade plunge today for Sam pro x 3. The audio to midi functionality seemed worth it along w melodyne.

I'm still unclear if I got the right upgrade and support was unable to confirm today in time, somtjey said simply to purchase it and if it's not right, there's a 30 day no questions asked refund.

I'm unsure if I bought an upgrade from prox3 to prox3 suite, or from my version (pro x suite) to pro x 3 suite.

I'll call Monday.

Keith Johnson congrats on the upgrade! If you don't mind me asking what version did you have previously? It might help shed some light on my situation. Thanks.

Sequoia, I carry a codemeter stick. Works great but I hear what you are saying. Samplitude is different. As Kyle mentioned

Thanks Keith that eases my mind a bit, think I'm in the clear.

I'd be curious to hear what your thoughts are on any of the new features when you get a chance to play around with them.

Cheers!

DogsoverLava Fri, 11/11/2016 - 21:18

I just checked a private torrent site and found Sequoia 13 which has been on the site for 8 months and has a total of 3 downloads so it doesn't look like piracy is taking too big a bite. I personally will not use cracked or pirated software but I am frustrated for sure by restricted licenses that make is hard to use software you've bought or fail to see how today's working musician needs to be able to use the tools across multiple platforms (like you said, at the studio, at home, on a laptop). I also get frustrated when you can't demo software (try before buy).

Sequoia looks good and it's on my radar but far out in the distance at this point.

kmetal Sat, 11/12/2016 - 09:07

Very interesting. I wonder if it's because people would rather be fashionable with a diff program, or because people just don't know about sequoia. Perhaps magix needs a little help on the marketing side of things? Maybe their happy right where they are.

I wonder if 'neve style' skins for the mixer would increase interest. Lol

kmetal Thu, 11/17/2016 - 17:04

Well magix confirmed that the version I purchased was the full pro x 3 suite, just for the upgrade price! Thanks a million chris! You saved me at least $80.

I went to register my serial number and there is a few options for which version I'm a little unclear as which one to select. Choices are as follows

Samplitude Pro X3 Suite (D)

Samplitude Pro X3 Suite (ES)

Samplitude Pro X3 Suite (F)

Samplitude Pro X3 Suite (I)

Samplitude Pro X3 Suite (II)

Any ideas what these mean? I'm thinking it's different languages.

Just wondering Keith Johnson which one you selected?

Figured I'd ask here before I opened a support ticket w magix.

Thanks.

Hmmm... I'm pretty sure that the Magix "Analog Modeling" collection ( which includes Am-munition, Am-phibia, Am-track, Am-pulse...) comes stock with any Pro X system... (?) I'm happy to be corrected on this if I'm wrong, but when I got Pro X 1 Suite, I got that collection as stock .. I didn't have to pay extra for them.

This may have changed since, though.

My "hunch" is that these are likely language designations ( D is Deutsch ( German), F is French, E is English, etc.); whereas - and I'm only guessing here - the numerical designations - I, II, - might be pricing/version codes for Students, Teachers, etc.
but... I'm only guessing.

Although - and I don't know the answer to this, so I'm asking - doesn't the version of your OS matter in this case as well? I know there are diffe versions of Windows... maybe Espanol, German...

audiokid Fri, 11/18/2016 - 16:52

kmetal, post: 443611, member: 37533 wrote: Ya know you might be on to something w th OS, could be 32/64 bit.

I'm not sure if Samplitude installs the same driver for both Samplitude and Sequoia... but from Sequoia 13 on, it installs the 32 and 64bit drivers which gives the option to run either 32 or 64 bit platforms. Obviously suited for Windows 7, 8 or 10 32 or 64 bit OS.

64 bit Sequoia runs great. The difference between Sequoia 12> 32bit vs Sequoia 13 >64bit was well worth the upgrade. I no longer use 32bit plugs either. Its all 64bit. Very smooth.

Being said, if you have a 64bit OS, the 64bit DAW is the way to go.

kmetal Fri, 11/18/2016 - 16:59

Yeah all my new stuff is 64bit based. I scooped a netbook (dual core celeron) for cheap to handle all my registrations. i believe it has w10 32 bit.

I got it for administrative stuff like emails, but I'm of course gonna see what it can handle audio wise just for fun.

If it actually runs Sam, which it might not be able to handle, I'll start learning some of the basics with it. No high hopes or anything more curiosity.

No idea how Sam installs. It's part of the reason I want to go thru the whole installation and registration on a computer that's disposable first. The new studio stuff is gonna be kept as Internet and clutter free as possible.

Kinda wanna do a dry run of the install process.

As far as Sam version goes, I think you can download any of the versions like French or watever at any time so it may not be über critical at the registration but I'd rather be safe.
