Hi all... :)
Was hoping I could get an unbiased review of Ozone Elements; if any of my RO brethren has it or has used it, and could tell me what you think about it.
I've watched a few YT vids on it, some reviews, but was hoping my peers here could weigh in.
Thanks!

Hey D, I scooped the Ozone 7 production pack for around 420$ about a year or less ago. It's the highest value bundle out there. That said it comes with some 'extras' that I was interested in, like vocal synth. Not only useful, but the extras can usually be had within the production pack for little, if any, extra cash outlay vs ozone itself. You get a lot, I mean a lot, of useful good stuff. And not the stripped down crap either, full advanced versions. The RX/sound repair modules are the only 'basic' versions.

Ok to your topic.

All the processing sounds the same quality, in ozone it's the controllability that they limit. So in that reguard you can't go wrong becuase it will sound good. I got nectar elements for $10 on closeout at GC.

Bottom line is the processing quality is excellent, and good results are attainable in all forms of the products.

Someone with your experience level will however be able to take advantage of the controllability of the standard or advanced versions. You may find the elements level stuff sounding good but want to change something not available. To me this puts a limit on the actual usage of the elements or may incline you to add another pluggin in the chain to say notch out a frequency. This is not the end of the world but not optimal.

Being careful with cash outlay and bang for the buck is my modus operende' which really swayed my decision towards the complete package. That said for the price you'd be hard pressed to do better than elements, becuase you get such good algorithms, and a variety of useful processors.

I own the the fabfilter limiter as well (saving for the eq/full bundle) and I find ozone to be just as good, but different. Fab is super transparent, think like grace designs, where ozone has a bit of girth or something, think focusrite isa. They're big relatively subtle and even the analog modeled and pultecs, are subtle and useful, they're not trying to have an obvious sound.

If I had just one pluggin bundle I'd take ozone all day. It's the most versatile / best sounding out there, with Fabfilter edging it out in some areas, for some things, and also 2x the price. There's also things ozone does that FAbfilter doesn't, hence my notion that Ozone is the best bundle out there, all things considered.

One other noteworthy point is both Fabfilter and Izotope have very user friendly licensing and allow you to install on any and all of your machines. Just download install and put in your code. I find this to be the way it should be. And I bet ozone is bootlegged less than others.

Ozone lol is also rediculously efficient on CPU power and runs on a crappy tablet that I have. Both standalone and within Sam. This tablet is so crappy the battery drains to the point of running out, even while it's plugged in! So if ozone runs smoothly on that, which it does, it'll run on just about anything.

Beyond that you get 32/64 bit, and a product that has a long history of quality processing.

Lol and their from Boston, which is cool, for us east coasters, to be represented!!!

Sorry I rambled but you can tell I like ozone, and I have like, a lot, I mean many, good quality pluggin options, from Sonnox, waves, fab, and about 3-4 other manufacturers.

Highly reccomend a free trial. And you may find the standard version fits your needs just fine. In my case the production pack was only $20 more than the advanced standalone (from audiodeluxe which (almost) always adds a discount when you view the product in your cart), so i bit the bullet knowing I only had one shot at both having the cash and getting the deal price.

I'm still on the original Pro X Suite, Chris. I never made any of the subsequent upgrades, not because I didn't want to but because I couldn't afford it. I will someday, it's just not interested cards right now. ;)

I should clarify... I'm doing a trial of the new SoundForge program, and Ozone Elements is included. I'm assuming it's probably a stripped down version?
I sure appreciate your thoughts. A lot. ;)

Eh no prob D, you da man.! From what I can tell soundforge includes some Izotope pluggins within the program. Looks to me like and eq reverb, and the basic repair pluggins. Is the elements separate from that stuff? Or is that the elements bundle? Based on looking at the stand alone elements set of stuff, it seems to me you have the full elements package, and I don't believe there is a light or stripped down version of elements. The elements label, im pretty sure is the stripped down version of any of the plugins (ozone nectar ect) so I believe any of the elements included in anything is the full elements version.

It is all a little confusing lol. I remember Adobe audition 3 included some "powered by Izotope" pluggins back in the day. It seems to me, and hopefully someone who knows SF better will chime in, that the Izotope branded stuff is separate from the SF technically, and just included.

I'm not yet sure what or which Elements tools are included, K.
I've downloaded the SF trial package but I haven't installed it yet, I've been busy this weekend doing both sessions and live gigs. My plan is to install it on Tuesday after the holiday weekend is over. I gigged out in Friday night, has a session with Dave Hawk all day yesterday, another session today and then I'm gigging out again tonight. Once I get a chance to stop and catch my breath, I'll get SF installed and start working with it. ;)

Cool D, curious how you like both SF and elements. I didn't give SF much of a chance when I tried it, and didn't have the heart for another learning curve, given all me new audio and video software is brand new to me. Rock ON!
