Hi Guys,
Sorry about the langauge in the tittleo_O:mad:

I have just spent a small fortune on upgrading my little home studio most on the recording side but also on the photography side.
I bought 2 BenQ Designer Monitors for my photo editing, but also because they look so great when in Samplitude:)

So I bought the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 2GB and a new Focusrite Scarlett 18i8(came from a 2i4), and now all of a sudden i have small dropout even playing a CD.
It all seems to be related to the graphics card if I am on on browsers and surf, it seems to be more frequent, opening and closing pages etc.

Anyone have any idea how to fix this apart from getting rid of the Nvidia and get a Radeon?

@Kraznet
You Video about setting up a controller worked a treat setting up my Keylab 61 Essential.
You are an absolute star!

Cheers Mike

I have a GTX 1060 and it runs fine on my old I7 first gen..
I too just bought 2 designer monitors...
Did you update to the last drivers ? (nvidia and Scarlett ?)
If so, try older drivers too.
When installing nvdia, choose advance options and install only the drivers.. no game tools and other sh..t
Check if you have the latest chipset drivers too.. the way
Deactivate antivirus and other software
Adjust the buffer of the scarlett.. try higher settings and lower settings...

I've had this problem. Other than the info pcrecord gave you, look to your core settings in Sam. It may help Samplitude run better when your card is pulling too much CPU. Look in Samplitude Systems Option> Performance and see how many cores used. Mine is at 3. You may need to change that but its only a hunch.

Hi Mike...
Just so you know, Kraznet isn't a member of RO ( although it sure would be great if he was, for our resident Samplitude users...the guy is incredibly knowledgeable with all things Samplitude and Sequoia!)
Just wanted to let you know that tagging him with the @ symbol here won't get the comment to him. I'm sure you could thank him on his YouTube channel though!!
:)

I saw that:sneaky: and went straight to BenQ and had a look and bought 2 x 24 inch, could not fit 2 x 27 Inch in otherwise I would have:giggle:

I will try that, but I really want to find out what cause the problem instead of workarounds.

Right I have tried everything(I can think of).
My Card is from Asus so got the latest drivers from them.
Latest drivers on my mobo
Latest Focusrite drivers.
I even tried the latest nvidia drivers
I have switched off everything that can be switched off, any more and will stare at black screens:LOL:

It is 100% a Graphics card issues/driver issue, in combination with Win 10 and audio, because the more I do in Chrome, IE11, Edge, when opening pages switching between pages etc.

I have on purpose started fresh with OS and apps install, so have only installed a few things inc. Samplitude on my Music boot, so for now i am working on my Photo Boot(dual boots two different SSD's)

I have had enough for today(Saturday 7:30pm UK time).

Tomorrow I will try and remove all traces of the new card and try my two previous cards, who never gave an issue.

Thank you for your replies, I loving this place more and more.

Cheers Mike

EDITED:

FWIW, until you use a dedicated PCIe interface on a desktop with PCIe slots, you will never be at full speed. You will blame other things for whats really happening.

Once I stepped up my interface to RME MADI or PCIe AES, I was always having troubles with monitors, latency and jittering in the editor. To give you an idea of how solid my Sequoia system runs... I can loop a 2 bar 48 track fully loaded mix (midi and audio) at 172 BPM and punch in and out flawlessly for 4 min and never miss a bit. That is how solid a DAW can run when you use professional interfaces.

After 8 channels, I know I need PCIe dedicated interfacing and a converter that will run with it. Digital audio is all about the interface and converter to me.
After 4 channels running on the fly, its my experience USB interfaces effect processing in bad ways..

Get into Madi or AES EBU PCIe, step up your ADC and you will be flying along. USB is bla to me.
FW is better. MADI rocks. I suspect Thunderbolt is very good too but I have not tried it.

To my tests and what my peers have all experienced, both A/V Monitoring is related or effected to the DAW interface. If the DAW interface is weak, your graphics will also miss behave.

Hope this helps. :)

I'm going to go ahead and stick my nose in here where I'm way out of my area of expertise. I am not a computer guru, but recently finished a fairly elaborate church video projection install (HD range extenders, switchers, converters, 2 displays, 3 projectors, multiple points of entry). Anyway, the purpose-built PC the client bought specially configured to drive the multiple displays and projectors was not behaving very well. The computer support guy came and went making only minor adjustments, and pointing the finger elsewhere - as tech support people like to do. Since it was my projectors, and distribution network that came off looking bad I had to look into it myself, because A) if it IS my equipment that's misbehaving I want to know, so I can correct it, and B) even if it ISN'T an issue with my equipment it still reflects poorly on my work, so I had to get it sorted it out.

In addition to the Display Settings in W10, the presentation software has an assortment of video settings to support multiple displays - some of which take you right to the W10 settings (mirroring, extended desktop, resolutions, main display, and display order), some are specific to the software (workspace, editing, preview, etc). The church tech and the computer tech had tried virtually every combination of settings using the W10 and software settings and with little rhyme or reason they could get it would work... sometimes.

So when I started digging into the problem on my own, I found that if I managed to get it to work with a combination of those settings and then restarted it would scramble everything up again. It wasn't until I found the NVIDIA has a separate control panel of its own, that I could make the adjustments and resolve the conflict over which of the 3 different Display Settings were really in charge. Church systems have to be "set it and forget it". The volunteer 'techs', are not usually up for the task of reconfiguring everything several times a week, so I'm glad in this case I was able to solve the issue and make the system reliable.

It's probably not relevant to your problem, since I assume everyone to be more of a Windows expert than I am, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Have you isolated it to one or the other? I would normally suspect the Scarlett interface over the Nvidia card.
If you have isolated it to the Nvidia card: Have you asked Nvidia? The behavior you are describing is a bug, not a feature, and might very well indicate a hardware defect.

Just a brief update!

I am still not up and running completely none of it has made a difference, apart from getting rid of the new NVIDIA card and getting my two radeon cards in again,
still have some DPC latency, but no sound dropouts:)

I am ordering a new motherboard, i7-8700 cpu and have already bought 2 new radeon passive cooled graphics cards.

SO I will soon be up and running again, thank you for all your suggestions and help.

Cheers
Mike

How do they serve you so far ? I also bought a colormunki display to calibrate them and I'm very happy to have 2 calibrated display to do video and photo works.
The fact that they are IPS is nice when I have a customer looking at an angle from me... ;)

So far I like them, they are very clear and bright but have not done any photo or video yet, I have the Color munki Photo as well so i can calibrate my A3 printer to match the monitors, that way I can always trust my prints:-)
