So I got a DSP 7000. I mostly use it for f**ked Fx and reverbs. I never have really done the "harmonisation" thing on the eventide but when I have experimented with doing harmonies and double of a vocal I never really like the sound. When the pros use the eventide for a double what are the technical setting like usually. I am more concerned with whats the theopry of a setting behind this simulated double. I mean I have been told that the Blink 182 sound is the eventide ont he vocals and I do love that sound for that type of band. Anyone know whats the deal. Is there somke trick to making this sound good?

Which singer (or is it both), can you give me a specific song to listen to? I could probably tell you if I listened to it. There is a shitload you can do with those Eventide units.

Haven't used that model....but if alot of the presets from the H3000 series are in there....dial up the one called "vocal doubler"; on an H3000 it's a little past 500 (preset#). It's a dual-micro-pitchshift progarm that continually varies the delay and pitch in small amounts to simulate a stereo double. The AMS DMS with the extyra chorus option did this as well and this was an old stallwart. As an indorsement for this particular preset (which is great as is/stock), Flood of Smashing Pumkins & U2 fame use's/used this all the Time (I worked on a Pumkins album w/him that this is whats used to double Billy's voice)....have fun.

P.S. if you don't have that particular piece3 of gear. Use + 2 to 12 cents on one side and -2 to 12 cents on the other side with antwhere from no delay to 30ms on each side. Use your ears...adjut to taste. Also a cool trick is to use musical value paramaters for the delay times ; i.e. an 8th note delay on the left, a 4tr note delay on the right....this isn't a double but it adds a good space.

My all time-still favorite vocal treatment is 15ips slap predelay into a plate or beter still a chamber....and/or the digital aprox. of it (i.e. about a 122 ms predelay before the plate, roll off the top end of the delay)....very '70's ala Bad Co.; etc
