Has anybody seen Standing In The Shadows, the indie film on the Motown studio musicians? If so, what was your take? This is a weird topic for this forum, but WTH?

I haven't.. but I would like to. Where can I get it? I saw a doc on Motown the other night on TV can't remember what channel but it was interesting. One of my faves is The Atlantic Records Story. Very cool .... Fats

I saw it recently here in snowy toronto, at a small theatre which has survived the big marketers onslaught by moonlighting as a post house - thus a good screen, good acoustics, and new, certified sound system. So this movie sounded great!! More importantly, I feel that it told a story long overlooked. Give these players their due. They were tight as human beings, and as players. It could have turned out maudlin, but despite the loss of several who didn't live long enough to benefit, the overall effect for me was joyous. I am looking forward to seeing it again. LONG LIVE the FUNK BROTHERS!

I've actually seen the movie three times and plan on getting the DVD when it comes out. This movie is just plain great all the way around. The story was great. The interviews with the surviving Funk Brothers were informative and enlightening and the live performance sequences of the Funk Brothers in concert with Chaka Khan, Tom Scott, Gerald Levert and others was at times spectacular. Enjoy....
