After getting screwed by an eBay scam artist and losing my Audix D1 purchase, I have to start over again.

Does anybody have any first-hand experience specifically comparing the D1 with the M201TG for close-miced snare?

I have about 175 eBay transactions, and only two of them were outright frauds. The one above was the worst, as the guy is screwing multiple buyers with impunity.

Good news is, I have a PayPal refund pending. PP went into his checking account and withdrew my funds for refund to me. The cockroach emailed me to complain, so I know he felt the pain.

@sshole.

Anyway, the M201TG has a very flat response all the way to 20 KHz. I've heard one at my friend's studio, but not in an A/B with an Audix D1. The Beyer is $175, and the Audix is $109 (shipped).

Ive used 201's a lot as well as a 422 on snare and I love them.I own a D1 a couple of D2's and a couple of D4's.I really wanted to like the D1 on snare but I never have liked it much for this application.I will say its the BEST harmonica mic I've ever heard.The D2's have a better bottom end response and make the snare sound bigger and more separated in a dense mix.In comparison, the 201 is a better pick than a D1 but the D2 is comparably cool with the Beyer.The D4,BTW, is even better for fat thick rock snare.As well as kick drum.

DD, thanks for the tips.

PayPal was able to rescue my funds from the account of Mr. Fraud, so I have mic money again.

Been mulling over the M201TG and Audix D4.

IMO, the D4 has multiple uses, such as kick, toms, and bass amps. It would give me a different kick mic compared to my ATM25s. As of this writing, I'm only doing rock/punk snare, so perhaps the D4 is the best choice. AT $149 shipped, it is less expensive than the M201TG.
