After going back and forth between ideas, I plan on using a M-Audio Delta 44 with a Yamaha MG 12/4 Mixer. I just want to make sure I am figuring the I/O's right.

I would run the main outs of the mixer (TRS) into imputs 1/2 of the 44. I would take the outputs 1/2 of the 44 and run them through a stereo channel (11/12) and then to the monitor outs.

I can't see myself tracking more then two tracks at once, allowing me to keep the tracks seperate on the computer. Would this signal path work?

I don't see why not, but you have to be aware that this setup may cause feedback when recording. Make sure there is no signal from the 44 coming into channels 11/12 when recording (put the fader down completely).

What you could do to avoid this problem is plug the outputs 1/2 of the 44 into the tape return, and make sure the tape return does not send to the master out, but to the control room output of your mixer (I assume you have hooked up your monitors on that output). That is at least the way I have hooked up my delta 44 (good choice ;) ).
