Hi Julian
Hi to all

I need a limiter for use on program material. I was considering the L2 plugin which I used and liked very much. I then began to consider getting the masters bundle, but I'm not sure how much I would really use the multiband, as I slightly think that multiband compression is all best left to the mastering gurus (as is limiting, but sometimes there isn't time, and you need to get that level up a bit). The eq is not so important as I have the Sony oxford and am loving that. (waiting for my HD version though...grr). So I'm back to the L2 but thinking whether I might be better off with the hardware version, as it may be better and more of an 'asset'. If anyone has opinions on this please let me know. I will be getting a demo unit at some point, but if there are other units in particular that I should consider, please let me know.
Thanks
Jack

I'm not much of a fan of heavy compression or limiting in tracking either. Keeping it as clean as possible til the last minute...fear of commitment you see :)

I've also found that I get much better results out of my pt rig by not trying to get a really hot level in. You hear all these things about resolution but prefer to keep my faders where they are as much as possible, rather than having to drag them all down to protect the mix bus. I would want the unit mainly for maximising program material for tv etc. I reckon the plug might do the job well enough for me. I just hate handing over the cash and not having any new buttons to press.

My best converter is the 192 in my hd rig. It's working out very well indeed at the moment. Ins and outs are a problem though. I can only justify one right now, and it's 'full'. If I get anymore hardware I'm going to spend a great deal of time with a torch in mouth and my arse sticking out from behind a rack. :) There are ways around that of course. If I had another one I would be in a better position to get around the pro control monitor section too. Oh for the day.

Thanks for the advice Jules.
