Hey all,

just wondering if anyone uses a urei 7110 comp, or if anyone can tell me what they are like?

obviously the 1176 is killer but havent heard much about the 7110.

any stories would be great!

OK, Here we go.

I hate this kind of post because it inevitably ups the selling price on stuff.

The 7110 is a really cool comp.
It sounds very nice, I think a lot of it has to do with the transformer balanced outputs.

It is super smooth, you can set the ratio to 1.5:1 and let it GR down to -20 db with little artifacts. The auto mode sounds great if you are in a hurry, but the attack/ release controls allow for a lot of tweak.
Also the detection circuit has a peak/rms control on a continuously variable pot. Something you don't see very often. If used carefully you can really dial in a interesting pump. Also there is tons of clean gain on the back end. Build quality is tank like.

The typical comparison is to the dbx 160x.

It is my opinion that the 7110 blows it away. more control, better sound.
