How long do you think it will be before we have the ability to create AI vocals that sing content from a text editor?

  •  Text editor: (create voice)

    • shape voice tone, texture, male, female, pitch modulation,

    • Internal external effect

Just like we can make tones on a synth, play on a keyboard or midi module, I'm anticipating having the ability to create vocals the same way. I have to admit I'd love to be able to do this because I can't sing well enough for the music I write. Thus, If I need a singer for my an... The AI band might me just the next craze.

I can imagine this technology being grouped with other modules/ plugins that would read text that ultimately uses a text to sing function.

Text gets shaped using a tone generator in our DAW. We have an option to use external analog devices like a synth or internal plugins as well.

We have the ability to bus out to external comps and other goodies to further shape the sound of the vocal we are AI creating.

Maybe it could sample our voice to create a similar or exact match of our voice.

I suspect a way to add dynamics might include something that triggers in a side-chain approach.

Just imaging the new world coming...

This is very interesting to me. My graduating project in Engineering was designing a crude form of voice recognition from scratch. At the time voice recognition algorithms were still being discovered. I ended up somewhat successfully using equations used for handwriting recognition on audio in frequency domain. So this work is taking the learnings from VR and sound synthesis and combining them, pretty interesting for sure. VR security systems will be in trouble, as will voice actors....

Very interesting about you, link. I've been waiting for something like this for decades. This is definitely going to put people out of business, and put a lot of people in business... one being me. People of the last century are now being replaced by big tech, online business... this is part of that. No different to how electric guitars ruled Rock, brass ruled Jazz. MIDI and samplers made it possible for music to be digitized and manipulated. Now this. Its so awesome to me. I'm so excited to know I can continue to make music as an old man who lost his voice years ago. I suspect we are going to be hearing a lot of new music full of interesting stories. I mean... imagine how poets and writers can turn their words into music. Incredible.

As I was watching an advertisement the other day my girlfriend she said to me "do you think this is a real person in this ad". We thought the actor sounded and looked slightly robotic but hard to spot if just dozing while waiting for the show to continue. I decided to search for voice cloning and here we are now... I'm amazed its already happening. So its not only happening to the voice, they are doing this with people. Ai is here. I was telling her how much I was looking forward to this technology. I'm thrilled. Hybrid audio with this is likely going to grow as well. All in all, I am glad I can still play the guitar lol. I'm part of the real musicians. But, not blind seeing where this is all going. I see this as an expansion to what I already know and can do in music . I don't see it as a bad thing at all. We still need musicians, great singers, actors etc. We still love to go to concerts and hear great performances but WOW! This is cool.

I think we will see an AI vocal pretty soon. We already have some music created by AI. So, vocals won't be that hard. The question is how good will it be?
