These forums are really about usage of equipment, and any discussion of the internal design of gear is done in the context of how that affects operation or the overall sound.

I think, just like many folks, he's not certain if he must be an all knowledgeable engineer to become proficient as a music recording engineer? I was that kind of confused at his age also and as a result, I not only became a fine technician, I also became a top shelf engineer in the music/commercial/broadcast TV & radio industries. I was the lucky recipient of a marvelous elderly former Methodist minister and electrical engineer with his own tiny early, custom-built commercial production recording studio. He became my mentor and taught me much of what I know today. Over 15 years of mentoring. I can't imagine now, what kind of huge pain in the ass I was to this wonderful, loving, giving gentlemen? I have been forever blessed and I'm not even religious.

Yes, there are other sites that are more technically geared to those such as your suggestion Boswell. Some are quite over my head as they get into the whys and wherefores of electronic design. Much, not having to do with the audio recording process however.

Grateful to all of those who have taught me so much. And I want to give to others.

i'm not an engineer, or trying to be for that matter. other than those swifty guys who can splice tape and create an amazing production completely in the realm of analog tape, i don't know if an 'engineer' per se exists.

i'm just saying you sent me this link to analog devices, chips that are used in gear. why? why didn't you send a link to companies that actually implement the chips, maybe i am missing something. this forum is about the usage of equipment...okay...that's why i am asking you what converters use these oversample chips...... (anything above 128 )

Most companies that implement these chips will use the relevant application notes.
These application notes can be found at the chip manufacturers web site(Analog Devices have many Application Notes as do Texas/BurrBrown, That Corp, Wavefront, Crystal etc
