Hey, I've done some small time mastering for some local bands and friends and have delivered the masters in CDR format but now I'm thinking of expanding and trying to get some internet global business. I realize that a lot of clients will ask for DDP images but I really don't know that much about it. I don't have a MAC so it doesn't look like I can get Wave Editor (the cheap option which I hear great things about). How about Sonoris for roughly $250? Does the same job but for PC?

And secondly how do I create a DDP image out of my finalized Sony Architect 5.2 file? Is it a difficult undertaking or is it pretty much just hit a few buttons since I have everything exactly lined up how I/my client wants it and it will spit out the DDP I can send to them?

Really appreciate getting some info from the pros here; thanks.

Sonoris would be your best bet -- I'd add the OEM player app also... They (clients) tend to like to be able to play the DDP somehow. Supplying them with the ability is a big help.

Otherwise, it's as simple as burning a disc - just without the disc. The player app allows the client to listen AND author discs directly from the DDP image.

Yes, they can author their own disc -- In a "you can't [SELF-CENSORED] with this, it's going to be exactly the same as it was" sort of way (which is best). It allows for authoring, ripping to PCM, PQ log output and plain 'ol listening.

No, I wouldn't do the security version. That's just me. I wouldn't appreciate someone else sending me a version that I could only use with *their* projects - and I'd remember and appreciate someone handing me a useful piece of software I could use in the future with *anyone's* projects.
