Can you find a company for multitrack stems? Can you go ask ANY label? Max

Can you go ask ANY label?

Well, you can ask... but that doesn't mean they'll gladly send you a link to download the studio tracks/stems to Gotye's last release.

There are a many quotients in play... licensing, publishing, the artist's contract and the individual terms within that agreement, if the song has already been licensed to another commercial source, yada yada yada.

Just because it's available to listen to and purchase in it's intended commercial release form, doesn't mean that anyone has access to the individual studio tracks to do with whatever they please.

I'd start with the links provided above by Chris and Niclaus. Obviously, there are outlets for these files, and the links provided supply these tracks and stems that have already been authorized and released by the label, artists, publishers, or management with the express purpose of working with them for educational use.

I can't say for sure of course, but I highly doubt that the response you'd get if you called and asked Apple Records or EMI/Capitol for access to the Abbey Road tracks would be a resounding "Sure, No Problem!"

Multi-track stems

Iwent to http:// and the site is no longer available. I always havea hard time finding remixable music. I wanted multitrack stems, including all individual parts (kick drum, snare drum, bass, guitar, etc.), not drum submixes, etc. in .WAV format (raw files). Is thereany way you can find a company for multitrack stems? Can you form a company formultitrack stems?

Why?

Most of them are commercial releases, you learn a lot from them. Some tracks are pretty terrible but, some a quite good. If you find a place, let us know. Chances are, you will not. There are too many reason why this isn't available already.

On second thought, yry the audio colleges. I'm sure they have something available or know where you could look.

Well why don't you tell us what you do want? I think it's already been explained pretty clearly as to why you're not likely to get open access to the stems or tracks to big commercial releases.
