So the tree formation / OH's give you an additional overhead to play with...nice.

I like how it gives you the Left / Mid / Right combination...its something that I haven't thought much about before with drum overheads...even using different mics as overheads that are not all the same / matched is something I haven't given much thought to before watching this as well. Definitely gives you more options.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together and sharing this Chris (y)

I'm not hearing any problems with you not getting enough low end, Chris, at least not through my monitors, and I was listening at a very low volume. I'm digging the sound of the snare, although I'm thinking the toms are a bit "boomy", but that's a personal taste thing.

The OH's seemed to be okay, which I was actually surprised at by the OH array you were using... but there seems to be a certain "silky" top end that's lacking...

What do you have up inside your cloud(s)? If they aren't filled with something dense and thick enough, then the fabric itself probably isn't doing a whole lot, at least not much below 8k ( or so), and depending on the thickness of the material of the clouds, even then it's probably not doing all that much....

One of the reasons that ribbons are preferred as room mics is because of their Fig 8 nature, and because they generally don't reproduce upper frequencies like condensers and dynamics do, so you don't as much of the "harsher" frequencies.

Instead of a Spaced Pair OH array and a dynamic room mic, You may want to try an XY array on your OH's, with a Ribbon set back into the room...

Just a thought...

It's insulation just floor joices and fabric.. By slapback I meant comb filtering a bit.. Those are Neuman km 184s.. They don't really have a silky high end like say Akg 214's.. Pretty flat sounding compared to most overheads..

Easily added with eq as they take eq and compression very well.. I didn't add any eq to the Neumanns.. just a low pass on the mono 421 to kill some highs.. To simulate a ribbon.
