So the normalization applies only on the downloaded version of spotify and not the webplayer?
How is the loudness war over with the great majority of albums mastered at - 6, 8, 9 LUFS?
Can you point out some example of songs actually mastered at -12-16?
(I have another one, Natalie Merchant...
Are there proof that spotify normalize audio at -14LUFS?
I did some empirical A/B comparison between mp3s donwloaded on my pc and audio streamed on spotify.
I choosed this quite loud songs on pourpose:
King of Convenience - Misread -10 LUFS
Radiohead - Burn The Wich -9.5 LUFS
Beck - Colors...
Anyone listened to Arcade Fire's Everything Now?
I've been surprised to hear how quiet and dynamic this album is.
I read it was mastered by Greg Calbi.
Last The National's album is even quiter, is old fashion mastering a new trend among alt-rockers?
In the end I will stick to 44KHz. It's not really guarantee there will be a perceived improvement using 96KHz.
What is sure is the files size will increase dramatically.
I will export the midi tracks to get rid of Kontakt instruments anyway, but will remain in the 44KHz domain.
Yes it's possible to export files at any different rate.
Well to tell the truth, in some tracks the strings arrangment is quite central (think of Nick Cave dark-ballads).
because the midi instruments are mixed already and some have eq, I don't want to restart from scratch.
But the main reason...
I have a group of Cubase projects in 44.100/24 bit.
They consist of mainly midi tracks of strings, drums, bass ( mostly VST Kontakt libraries) and a a few wav tracks of looped material.
This projects should function as basic tracks for a recording session when vocals, guitar and piano...
The UCX seems a good option.
Most of the times I use 1-2 ins simultaneously, fewer times I use 3-4 and occasionally more.
I didn't noticed The Babyface Pro has also 2 line ins.
It is also 3 years newer and 250 EUR cheaper than the UCX.
This are the main options right now.
Any other suggestion?
Thanks for the replies
There are two Fireface 800 for sale right now for 650-700 EUR.
The FF 800 was introduced in 2004, I think it is a little old for these money.
The Fireface UC, with 2 pre + 6 IN would be ideal for my needs.
It sells for around 800 new right now.
it was introduced in 2010...

I need a new audio interface with the following requirements:
Under 1000 EUR
Best audio quality possible at this price

My question is related to Midi and not to Ableton strictly, and since I'm using Ableton I will post it here.
I just downloaded Midi Automator, a program that should let me quickly switch between Ableton Live sets with a simple midi message, without even going near the computer.
On the troubleshooting section at the Icon website they says that the Midi port can act weirdly if plugged on different ports, they suggest to reinstall the interface.
I think it has something to do with the fact that I plug and and unplug often. On the weekend I'll go to the studio and try to...
Thanks Danny for your answer, I know this function and it tells the drum machine if it must receive midi clock or not.
I don't need to play songs/pattern in synch in the traditional way.
I did this in the past, and then realized that
1. patterns/song programming is very time consuming
The drum machine is from the 90s and it hasn't much midi parameters to set.
Note that I don't need to play the patterns through midi clock, I just want to trigger it's internal bass sounds with
a midi track inside Ableton or Cubase.
The bass sounds are triggered when the midi track is set to...
