Recording a guitar into a mixer via an Acoustic Image Clarus preamp out, and out to a video camera. The problem is that the guitarist often adjusts his volume during playing, and that can mess up my signal level going into the camera. Other situation is when he plays chord melody, the signal is...
Anyone have any recommendations to tame highs in Mastering. I'm looking at a Drawmer 1973 right now because of my budget. Trying to stay out of the digital realm right now and do most if not all my processing in the analog realm. I'm also considering saving up for a Weiss Unit or a Maslec MBC...
Hi guys and girls !
I just found out the Fabfilter issued a new version of their excellent Limiter
They included level compensation to avoid being tricked with the volume change
And Yes finally : LUFS metering !
I'm gonna love it, I'm sure,,, (where's my credit card ??)
audiokid submitted a new resource:

Hey all , I downloaded the free goodhertz faraday limiter a few days back and inserted it into a session
today. I can really hear it working and I like it .
Anybody else here used it ?
What do you think ?
I have been using the Massey 2007 and the tokyo dawn kotelnikov which are a bit bitey...
I have a very simple question about the levels in mixing, here it is;
I know the peak of the final mix-down must be somewhere between -6 and -3 db, let's say it will be 6 for this example. I start by recording every instrument around 15 and 12, adjust it on my MOTU audio...
I don't own a good brickwall limiter/maximizer in my drawer of plugins. And I know I can get one for $29 from Waves. But I own Waves Renaissance Compressor and was wondering how to build one, if possible with a few compressors chained together or something. I was inspired to try brickwall...
Is there such a beast?
I just did a spectrum analysis of two of my reference tracks, and they both had a frequency cut off at about 17khz. I don't mean attenuation, I mean a vertical line. How is that done? I certainly can't emulate it with EQ.
I would like to welcome CharterOak Acoustic Devices as our newest sponsor here. Its a privilege to have HIGH QUALITY companies like this supporting our community.

I basically love my Langevin DVC, great preamp. But the limiter is the touchiest dang thing and I thought I would beg for advice.
I've never gotten to the point where I can dial in the limiter and and know that it will be just perfect. I love the sound I get if I play with it and watch it...
Similar in principle to a compressor, a limiter is an audio processor that prevents the amplitude of an audio signal from rising above a certain threshold, regardless of what is happening to the amplitude of the source audio. Dynamics below the threshold are more or less unaffected. Certain...
Did a search here and didn't come across anything recent so I thought I'd ask. Even though it's probably a forbidden topic. I find myself in situations where I'm wearing multiple hats as conductor and engineer (and performer sometimes too)
I know I can set levels low and make up some...
Happy new year to all of you.
I have a "SpectraSonics Model 610 Complimiter" that sounds ok for about 3 minutes, then the output shuts off. There is still a signal on the input (I'd guess, 'cause it has a threshold lamp that keeps lighting when signal meets threshold). At first I suspected a...
Aloha Guys... Finally putting together a professional studio with some quality gear.
Please give me your opinions on the Best All-In-One Preamp/Compressor/Limiter/Gate For TLM 103.
If it makes any difference, I'm running Sonar 8 Producer with an RME Fireface 800 Interface.
I have an old MXR limiter guitar pedal, the kind with the attached AC cord from the early 80's. I'd like to use it as an insert limiter with pro tools b/c I like the way it sounds on vocal tracks. the problem obviously is that it's wired for instrument level input not +4dbu.
What should I...
Hello all, I am a baritone bass vocalist and would like to improve my sound. I am using a standard handheld wired dynamic mic, and I'd like to incorporate my Peavey CEL-2 (Compressor Expander Limiter) into the chain. My projection is often over powering (causing distortion) and my soft parts...
Ok I know this may be a stupid question, but I downlaoded a limiter and I need to know where to put the effect. On the master track? Just on the vocals? The bass doesn't hit as hard when I put the limiter on the beat. How do I fix that too? thanks
