That is definitely throwing down the gauntlet. I do think the BFplug-insare good, and I haven't heard the other stuff. I did run a mix through L1 and thought it detracted, especially next to Maxim. I do prefer the hardware 1176 to the plug-in, but would say that both have positive attributes. I too await the responses. Doc.

UA powered plugins did a whole lot better than the Bomb factory stuff on PT. Bomb factory, i believe, redesigned their plugins in an attempt to catch up. i have yet to hear the new versions. I do remember that guy pissin' off VST users. At that time I was a nuendo user and we wanted bomb factory vst. He basically made many down remarks towards us. Once the UA cards came out I promised myself I would never ever buy one of this idiot's products

The reason he is so disliked by many is because he openly disses all competitive products. It's a very unprofessional approach and he steps on the toes of many happy users of non-BF plugs. The first rule of a pro business IMHO is never put down the competion but rather show how your product is excellent. I personally use the UAD-1 and think it's a great product. I use the Pultec, LA-2a, and 1176 in most all of my mixes and they are outstanding. I generally find that many plugins degrade the sound rather than improve it but I really like the UAD stuff.

I remember when I went to buy a new Prelude in 1983. I walked in (24 then) and was greeted by a look down your nose asswipe with the "jaguar frat boy look"

Great story Bill, wish I could have been there to see the look on his face. I own a music store and have learned by experience that it's often the simple but honest hardworking farmer types wearing hand me downs that often buy the 5,000.00 Martin guitars. Respect for others goes a long way in business as well as life and that includes respect for one's competitors as well.

Man, I am with ya both. Lat november I had a similar experience with a stupid psychologist teacher at a local course. I was a little away in the room but I already knew the stuff.
Then the "Mr.doctor" calls me attention in front of everybody.... hey, boy, what are you doing on here? why don´t ya take your skate and gonna play?
I told him.... why don´t ya take care of your as man? I am not a child... and left the place due to lack of respect..

next day, he came at me aking for excuses because he discovered I was the only "child-" with a master course in power electronics and that spoke english.

I generally get dressed like a boy, sometimes hat, an MTV shirt... so these kind of situations are not stresses to me anymore ( 33 looking 24)
