Mackie/Computer Home studio hook up question

I have a studio question about my set up. I mainly do voiceover production...here's what's in my home studio:

Mackie 1402 VLZ going into a Delta 44 Audio interface which is hooked up to my computer. I use Cool Edit Pro 2.0. My speakers are plugged into the Delta 44 output. I've got all my audio sources (mics, CD, DAT, mini disc etc) going through the Mackie. Recording through the Mackie into Cool Edit is no problem. But I can't seem to figure out how to record an audio source coming from the internet and/or computer into Cool Edit.

Basically, I need to be able to send an output signal from the computer to the Mackie, so that I can record it into Cool Edit....and then be able to send the audio on Cool Edit into my other recording audio sources (the DAT, mini disc etc).

I can't actually help much with the equipment as I've never used Cool Edit and the last time I used a Delta was 10 yrs plus ago.

Technically you can plug the output of the Delta back into the input and play the computer/internet sound output back into the Delta....undergoing conversion both ways and looping a cable back into the machine - or 'bouncing' as we used to call it.

In fact, although captured audio from the internet won't be good quality, you should be able to use the Delta control panel or Cool Edit to route the internal audio stream to an internal recording input - making the same virtual connection as your cable made.

CE won't access the internal sound chip. He will probably have to come out of the headphone jack on the computer and into the Delta. 1/8" TRS to 1/4" TRS.

There's a program called Audio Hijack which will do this internally within a Macintosh. Not sure if they produce it for the PC but a little googling might find something. It allows you to assign virtual outputs from your browser, plugins, itunes, etc etc and re-route them to digital input channels or straight to WAV. It also does read-ahead punch-in and punch-out so its quite useful for batch processing voiceover clips and naming them sequentially, for one. Perhaps OP can get something like that for the PC as I am presuming CE doesn't and neither does the Delta control panel?
