I have a few guitar player friends who are thinking about the same thing. I suppose, with the right audio interface and something like a [="http://www.littlelabs.com/pcp.html"]LittleLabs PCP Distro[/] or a [="http://www.radialeng.com/"]Radial JD7[/] , one could do this.
Kind of an expensive stomp box though....
