Well, the original machine that started the whole revolution is back home for an upgrade/facelift in a way.
I'm taking Win2k off and putting XP on....here's the kicker...ACPI mode...I'm truly finding out that this is the way to go for XP installations and will be revising my XP Tweak guide once more for that! I'm taking out the Adaptec SCSI card upon Mark's request(Mark Linett, the guy who just remixed the Beach Boys in Nuendo for 5.1) I will be removing the SCSI CDR/W and replacing it with a Plextor 12x CDR/W IDE drive. Also there was an additional CDRom in there that I will be removing. So it will have a CDR/W and two removable drive bays for IDE drives...of course I have turned Mark on to the WD JB model drives and he has a smattering of 80-100GB drives!
It also has two 9652 cards and a UAD card...
I will be installing Nuendo, UAD, TC Surround Plugs, Mastering Edition, Wavelab 4

since I never installed XP with ACPI Mode (as recommended by your Opt guide). I didn't get a chance to see if there was something different about the XP ACPI implementation. How are you dealing with interrupt sharing/steering or why is this no longer a concern?

Well with ACPI mode in XP it allocates IRQ's higher than 16...so you get 17 through 23 or something like that...also with power shut off and so forth it's a lot better...hit the power button and it goes through the shutdown procedure!
It just seems a lot easier to manage and deal with..
All cards were in the machine when installed and it took care of everything!
Other than that it's pretty much the same..don't know if I notice any performance difference but it does seem smoother in a way...

wow, you just load her up and watch her go? I assumed you would still do the incremental installation of peripherals. That makes life pretty easy. Can you list the order of events (meaning did you still start blank with just the video and then throw everything in there or what?)

Well, I got the system from him to redo it and I left everything in there...two 9652 cards and the UAD card...installed XP as is..sure I had to load the drivers but that's normal..
everything went smooth as a baby's arse!

All systems are fully tested in an overnight loop test. All systems come with a restore disk with a bootable Ghost floppy in which to restore the system with.
In case you lose your XP CD or your Restore CD I make back ups of them and hold them in case of such a need.
All systems bought enables you to get complete phone and email support priority.

This is all for 1,700.00

Systems do not include audio cards as I am not a dealer for those but if needed I can get them at reasonable prices.
