Need help with noise on guitar track

Whenever I record the guitar, I get this super high pitch hissing noise that I can get rid of with a noise gate fx when the guitar isn't being played (very beginning of the clip) But as soon as he starts playing, the noise gate isn't effective any longer. You have to turn the volume up louder to hear it clearly.

This is an archtop guitar, plugged into a reverb pedal, plugged into the mixer, and the mixer outputs to the inputs of the video camera (the guitar isn't mic'd)

Thanks for any input on what the noise is, and how to eliminate it completely if possible.

I'm not sure I'm hearing what you're describing. I would try a different guitar and assess if it's an inherent harmonic in the pickup. Try a different pedal or eliminate it and see if the sound you're hearing is coming from that. Try a different channel on the mixer.

In short.....work backwards and eliminate things till it stops.

I can think of two possibilities. First, it's the audio circuit of the camera itself. Camera audio inputs are often not all that great. What video camera are you using, something with a 1/8" stereo input or something with dual XLR inputs? Second, it could be noise from an electronic device (like the camera) getting into the guitar pickup. Do you have any other recording device you could use for comparison?

The ringing is at exactly 8kHz, which makes me suspect the source is an electronic device. You can get rid of the ringing component with a super narrow 8kHz filter.
